Frequently Asked Questions
-
Your first step is to book a swim trial to understand which part of our program is right for your swimmer. If you would like to book a trial please contact Chris at Elite Swimming
-
Your membership to EDA involves two components - paying a training fee to Elite Swimming and a separate membership fee to EDA via Swim Central.
Go to the Join Now button - there is lots of information about how to register with us.
If you need further help please contact our club registrar.
-
Swim Central is the online hub for your Club Membership, event entries and results.
Once you have joined the Club via Swim Central you will then use this portal to enter any events. Swim Central also stores all of your registered times that you have achieved when swimming at competitions. These times can be used to enter Championship events or competitions that require a qualifying time.
-
If you are joining our State or National Performance squads, you are required to take out a Club Membership. This is required by Swimming Victoria. The Membership provides insurance to our affiliated Clubs and the members of these Clubs. This is a constitutional requirement of the Club and is a separate fee to your training fee. Your Membership Fee, paid via Swim Central, is paid annually in July.

Swimming Victoria now require parent or guardian members of all swimmers aged 17 years or under. This meets our child safety standards as we then have a parent or guardian contact for the child. This membership allows the parent or guardian to vote and have a say on behalf of their children. It also provides parents insurance coverage if they were to get injured on or around pool deck or at any point they are participating in club activities.

Although EDA and Elite Swimming have a strong connection and work together in partnership to provide a strong squad program they are separate organisations.
Elite Swimming provides the squad program and training and employs the coaches. Your squad training fees are paid directly to Elite Swimming. If you have any enquiries or questions relating to your squad program including absenteeism, change to your squad progam, your coach etc you will need to contact Elite Swimming directly.
You can contact Elite Swimming on the squad page HERE
EDA, the Club, is a separate, non profit organisation run by a committee of volunteers. The Club supports membership through Club events and competitions, uniform supply and lane hire. To compete at swim meets each swimmer must be registered with the Club.
Registration (Membership) fees for EDA are separate to the squad fees.
-
EDA uniform items can be purchased via our website on the SHOP button. Our uniform provider Swimmerch will process your order and organise delivery direct to you. Some orders may be collected at a swim meet by prior arrangements
-
Swimmers need to be prepared when they attend their training sessions. Apart from their swim wear and towel swimmers will also bring their ‘kit bag’. Kit bag contents should include:
EDA Cap
Goggles
Water Bottle
Kick Board
Pull Buoy
Training fins (check with coach on what type you need)
Hand Paddles (senior swimmers only)
Training snorkel (Senior swimmers only)
-
The Club uses the EDA Parent Whats App Chat Group as our main way of communicating. This app is a great tool to use when attending competitions (find where everyone is seated) and checking in or swapping your volunteer responsibilities. EDA also posts updates and reminders on events and activities on this chat group

Parents may be able to watch their swimmers at training, depending on the venue. However it is recommended, where possible, that swimmers are dropped off and then collected at the end of each session. If parents are to remain at the pool they should watch remotely and not interact with your swimmer during a session.
Please respect that our coaches are in their working environment. If a parent wishes to speak with a coach about their swimmer, they should make an appointment to chat either prior to, or directly after, a session or at a time that is convenient to both the coach and the parent.
