Today, six of our National Swimmers participated in the Metro West National Swimmer Development Day, led by former Australian Team Coach Leigh Nugent. The day featured a swimmer and coach forum, followed by an in-pool session focused on freestyle and backstroke technique.
It was an incredibly valuable experience for both our swimmers and the five EDA coaches who attended.

Day 9 Highlights:
After nine days of racing, we finally hit the last day with both Megan and Hunter hitting the pool. Megan was up first for her sixth event of the championships, putting in a solid swim in the 200m IM to finish 23rd.
Then, after waiting until Day 9 for his one and only event, Hunter put together a great swim - winning his heat and setting a new PB in the 100m Butterfly, breaking the 58-second barrier for the first time!

Day 7 Highlights:

Day 6 Highlights:
Eve was back in action in the 200m Breaststroke, her final event of the championships.
Despite all the preparation and effort, sometimes race day doesn’t go as planned - and today was one of those days. It was a tough outcome, especially given how hard she’s worked. But this result won’t define her. Eve will come back stronger, more determined, and ready for the next challenge.

Day 5 Highlights:
We had an action filled day with 5 of our 7 swimmers in the pool. First, Jimmy took on the 100m Breaststroke. Despite getting sick at the start of the meet, he did a great job focusing on his race process rather than the result. We’re confident Jimmy will come back even stronger next year!
Next, Megan competed in the 100m Butterfly, delivering another strong performance and finishing in 29th place.
To wrap up the day, Eve, Indy, and Josh all raced in the 50m events.
Eve - 24th
Indy - 40th
Josh - 28th

Next up was Jimmy, making his Nationals debut with a strong swim in the 50m Breaststroke, placing 64th.
In the evening Finals session, Indy represented Team Victoria in the State Teams Mixed 4x50m Medley Relay. She led off with the backstroke leg and Team Victoria finished 4th overall!

Day 3 saw Eve hit the pool for her first event. Coming off a week of illness, Eve put together a strong morning swim in the 100m Breaststroke seeing her progress through to the B final.
Eve backed up her strong morning swim finishing in 13th place overall.
Shout out to Megan, Molly, Indy and Josh who came in to help cheer Eve on!

On Day 2, Molly returned to the pool for three events: the 50m and 100m Freestyle MC, and the 100m Backstroke MC. She kicked off the morning with a PB in the 100m Freestyle, just narrowly missing qualification for the Swim Vic Pathways Program (🤞🏼she still gets selected, as she’s only 10 points shy of the criteria!). With only 20 minutes between each event, Molly did a great job backing up, swimming just off her PBs in the 100m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle.
